The classic L. Frank Baum story of the Wizard of Oz is retold in a fresh new comedy one act play script containing all the adventure, wonderful characters and humor of the original book. Students of all ages will enjoy this rich classic fairy tale in which believing in magic turns life into a wonderful adventure.

Synopsis:
Bored with her life on a Kansas farm, Dorothy Gale finds herself caught up in a twister and deposited with her dog Toto in a magical land called Oz. The only problem is that her house has inadvertantly fallen on and killed the Wicked Witch of the East. She now has her evil sister, the Wicked Witch of the West, out to destroy her and her three friends (the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion) whom she meets on the road to the Emerald City while trying to ask the Wonderful Wizard of Oz to send her back home again.

Description:
This 45-minute comedy one-act play script features 2 exceptionally strong female characters (Dorothy and the Witch), both of whom sing, and 3 strong characters (Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion) whose gender is really interchangeable) with at least a dozen good smaller supporting roles and several choruses (which can be played all by the same actors or by a variety of classes) and which are expandable in size, depending on the number of students to be cast. The cast can be intergenerational, as there are both strong adult and child roles. The original production featured quite a number of elementary classes of varying age levels. There are solo and chorus songs througout the show. Good for elementary, middle and high school students. The hard copy version of the play script is 8 1/2" x 11" in size with spiral binding (which lets it lie flat on a desk, when opened) and color cover.
