Description
This adaptation of the Greek Myth, Pandora's Box, is a delightful way to introduce your students to the fun of using their own words and actions to respond to the narration and stage directions in the play. In this way, teachers can create an authentic performance where students do not need to memorize lines, but can improvise with their words and actions throughout the play. This lesson includes a warm-up exercise that will help students to improvise in a scene, using their own words. The narration and the stage directions will give both teacher and students everything they need to create a rewarding play when studying Greek myths. Add some recorded harp and flute music, along with scary recorded sounds when Pandora opens the box, and teachers will create a memorable experience for their students. The myth is a great springboard for discussion about having hope when life feels really hard. Adapted for the stage by Carol J. Macy. 10 pp. 10+ characters. Appropriate for grades 3 thru 8.
