"The download on the play worked without any problems. I appreciate the affordability of your plays and that you offer PayPal as a payment option. I found your site with an internet search. Yes I am a teacher. Another teacher and I offer an after school drama program for elementary aged students. It amounts to putting on a play or a medley of scenes from plays each semester. The kids who do it usually enjoy it and learn a lot so we continue to offer the activity. Thanks for the bonus. "Best, "Sandy"

Description

This inspiring short play is designed to introduce students to the difference that four African-Americans made in helping our country move in the direction of equality for all citizens. In the story, a student, who was asked to write a paper on one African-American who fought for equal rights, is unsure of where to begin. After falling asleep, the student is greeted by a dream figure and taken to different scenes from the lives of four courageous Americans. Worksheets are included to help actors work together in small groups to prepare for their parts in one of the four scenes. Also included are questions that help students reflect on the progress we have made with regards to equal rights for all and also the problems that we still need to solve together. The Dream can be staged for an audience or it can be a dynamic dramatic reading followed by a discussion. These four simple but powerful scenes will stay with young people. The psychologist Piaget believed that when students are physically involved in a lesson, l earning is anchored in at a deeper level! That is why I love theater in education!! Adapted for the stage by Carol J. Macy. 22pp. approx. 26 characters. Appropriate for grades 4 thru 12.

"Quick update to let u know that my class assembly went very well!!! Thanks again for the wonderful script... Very easy for the kids and perfectly adaptable!!!
