Do you love Mark Twain? His stories have made us laugh and cry for over a century. Now see his stories brought to life in this delightful one-act play which features portions of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, The Prince and The Pauper, and the entirety of Jim Baker's Blue Jay Yarn.

Synopsis:
In San Francisco in the 1860s, authors Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain) and Brett Harte are roommates working on becoming successful writers for a livelihood. Together they improvise scenes from "Huck Finn," "Tom Sawyer," the "Prince and the Pauper," and "Jim Baker's Blue Jay Yarn."

Description:
This 45-minute one-act can be a tour de force for two male actors, (playing Twain, Harte and all the other characters in Twains' stories all at once) or can include 2 strong male characters (Twain and Harte) with many actors playing smaller supporting characters as Twain and Harte act as narrators and main characters. This latter method of presentation can even include a chorus of blue jays which is expandable in size, depending on the number of students to be cast. Good for upper elementary, middle and high school students. Production ideas for sets, costumes, etc. and curriculum suggestions for a thematic curriculum built around the Twain stories are provided at the end of the script. The hard copy version is 8 1/2" x 11" in size with spiral binding (which lets it lie flat on a desk, when opened) and color cover.
