CES Curriculum Design
Creative Educational Systems (CES) is committed to designing each
Enlightened Education Curriculum for the specific benefit of everyone
concerned—parents, students, classroom teachers, school administration,
and the community involved. Therefore, each Change of Heart curriculum,
while following certain inherent principles, processes and techniques
must necessarily be tailored to the needs of the school(s) or organization(s)
participating. Flexibility of curriculum is thus necessarily a key factor
in addressing the needs of:
- The client (school or organization).
- The school or organizational culture (local, state and regional mandates;
specific mission, goals and objectives, specific needs, e.g., drug prevention,
ethnic diversity, literacy improvement, conflict resolution, etc.).
- Budget, school, organizational resources and facilities.
- School and community demographics.
- Curriculum (both academic and behavioral) interests and concerns of
participating classroom teachers.
- Grade level and special needs of participating students.
- Community needs and resources.
Inherent components of the Change of Heart Curriculum include:
- Staff Development: Workshops, seminars and/or
courses are periodically
offered to participating staff, depending on the need to experientially
understand and apply principles, processes and instructional strategies before
utilizing them with participating students.
- In-School Arts Residencies: Change of Heart residences may vary in length
and subject matter. Residences usually include a culmination, but this
may or may not be a performance, depending on the choice of the
participating school.
- Shows: Either as a catalyst to subsequent study of curriculum objectives,
or as a culminating event in which students demonstrate publicly what
they have learned, theatrical performances are an integral part of the
Change of Heart process.
- Publications: Teachers manuals, handbooks, curriculum guides, and play
scripts accompany each Change of Heart program.
- Program Packages:: All of the above components are
combined into comprehensive multi-faceted program packages
designed to serve an individual
school or institution's needs. Custom designed packages are common
as we strive to tailor each program to the individual situation
we find with each client.
